Freedom's Edge

A memoir of a journey and imprisonment in Afghanistan.

In early 1978, to further my documentation of non-western Old World cultures I journeyed to Afghanistan. After travelling to various centers of Afghan culture - Kabul, Kandahar, Mazer-e-Sharif, mishap befell me; my cameras and film were confiscated and I was imprisoned.

While a prisoner the 1978 Saur Revolution took place.

During my imprisonment a camera was smuggled in to me and a portrait of women and children was achieved. I later managed to recover a quantity of my confiscated films.

The story of my journey and imprisonment has been written for publication, and as a film treatment/screenplay. See Freedom’s Edge Screenplay section.

A "one only” set of 75, signed, hand printed vintage prints (approx. 10 in colour) is available to a Museum/Collector.
